The relationship between food consumption pattern and primary school pupils health in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State

This study is aimed at finding out the relationship between food consumption pattern and pupils health in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. Ex-post Facto research was adopted for the study, while the sample was selected using stratified sampling technique. Two research hypotheses were formulated and Pearson Moment Correlation Co-efficient was used to test the hypothesis. The research instrument was a questionnaire and total population of 750pupils (respondents) was sampled out of 15 schools. Also reported was the significant relationship of food consumption pattern and pupils' health, and the result also shows that sensory food aversion has a significant relationship on pupils' health. Based on this, it was advised that meal times should be made fun and not stressful, parent and caregivers should always allow children to handle foods with different textures as much as possible, and parent/caregivers should not beg, or bribe the children to eat.
