Promoting Inter-Cultural Understanding among Races in a Fragile Global System

Abstract

The promotion of intercultural understanding among races in a fragile global system becomes necessary looking at the diversity in terms of cultures, faiths and nationalities, understanding the global system and the need to promote international peace and understanding among nations of the world has become an essential characteristic of all societies. With cross-border violence, threat to peaceful co-existence, the need for collective security cannot be over emphasised. Most countries around the globe share concerns about social cohesion and stability for economic growth and development. Promoting Peace Education and intercultural understanding is an essential part of living with others in the diverse contemporary world. It  supports people to become responsible citizens, equipped with skills and knowledge for living and working together  in an interconnected world and among races. Intercultural understanding combines social knowledge, interpersonal, personal and skills. It involves understanding to value and view critically cultural perspectives and practices and those of others through their interactions with people. Promoting intercultural understanding among races in a fragile global system will enhance cooperations in the global system and encourage citizens to make connections between their own worlds and the worlds of others and to mediate or negotiate difference. It improves citizens’ abilities to empathies and communicates with others and to analyze critically intercultural experiences. It negotiates opportunities for one to consider his own beliefs and attitudes in a new light, and so gain insight into others, thereby reducing the fragility among different cultures and races across the globe.
