Curbing Corruption as Bane of Nigeria’s Under Development through Social Studies Education

The paper seeks to examine the role of Social Studies Education in curbing corruption as bane of Nigeria’s under development. The high rate of corruption has deprived Nigeria from becoming a developed country where citizens and infrastructures are developed. The paper discussed causes of corruption and corruption as bane of Nigeria’s under development by looking at corruption in various sectors in Nigeria. The paper adopted Social Studies Education as an instrument for curbing corruption in Nigeria in order to attain high level of development and also enlighten citizens on the benefit of eschewing corrupt practices. It was recommended that Social Studies Education should be taught in all levels of education to enable student exhibit right attitude toward national development. Social Studies teachers should avoid corrupt practices to enable students follow their foot- steps.
