Abstract

The study investigated effect of Google Keep teaching technique on undergraduate students' achievement and interest in Social Studies Education in Enugu state. The study was Quasi-experimental type adopting the pre-test post-test nonequivalent control group design. Based on the objectives of the study four research questions and four hypotheses guided the study. The study made use of two groups - experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught using Google Keep teaching technique while the control group was taught without using Google keep teaching technique. The sample for the study consisted of 164 year two undergraduate students. The experimental group comprised 77 students (29 males and 48 females) and the control group comprises 87 students (32 males and 55 females), making a total of 164. The instrument used for the study were the Social Studies Education Achievement Test (SSAT) and Social Studies Education Interest Inventory (SSII) which were developed by the researcher and face validated by two experts from Social Studies Education and one expert from Measurement and Evaluation. The reliability coefficient(r) of 0.75 was determined using Kuder-Richardson K-R20. The data generated were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions while ANGOVA was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the study showed that Google keep teaching technique was effective in enhancing undergraduate students' achievement and interest in social studies education concepts. Based on the result, it was recommended that Google Keep teaching technique should be used in the teaching of social studies education.
