Cultural Values, Religious Differences and Social Studies Curriculum Implementation in Primary Schools in Cross River State

This study is aimed at investigating the effect of cultural values, religious differences and Social Studies Curriculum Implementation in Primary Schools in Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State, Nigeria. To achieve this, two hypothesis were formulated to guide the study. Literature review was done based on the variables under study. Ex-post facto was the design considered appropriate for the study, while the random sampling technique was used to select a total of 241 respondents. A fifteen (15) items, Likert-type 4-point scale questionnaire was the major instrument used in eliciting information for this study, while Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis was the statistical tool used for data analysis. Findings revealed that cultural values and religious differences significantly relate with social studies curriculum implementation in the study area. With this result, it was recommended that: teachers who are creative enough should teach social studies subject in primary schools so as to take cognizance of the cultural value and religious differences amongst the students. Secondly, teachers should on regular basis update their knowledge in Social Studies by obtaining higher qualification to add to their experience and wider knowledge of Social Studies subject
