Effect of Guided Inquiry Teaching Method on Academic Achievement of Senior Secondary Biology Students in Adamawa State, Nigeria.

This study investigated the effect of guided inquiry teaching method on academic achievement of senior secondary biology students in Adamawa State, Nigeria. The population of the study comprised of all the 19,631secondray Biology students in Adamawa State. A sample for the study was 135 drawn from Senior Secondary two (SS 11) students, which were randomly selected from Senior Secondary Schools in Mubi and Gombi Education Zones respectively through purposive sampling technique. The sample was made up of 61 boys and 74 girls. The design was quasi experimental research design. The instrument used for data collection was Biology Achievement Test (BAT). Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used for hypotheses testing at 0.05 level of significance using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).Result showed that there is a significant difference in the academic performance of students taught with guided inquiry teaching method in Biology. Recommendations and conclusion was based on the findings.
