Influence of School Adherence to Quality Control Measures in terms of Teachers Welfare Condition on Teachers Job Performance in Calabar Education Zone, Cross River State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study was undertaken to assess some quality control measure on teachers' job performance in public secondary schools in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State, Nigeria. One null hypothesis was formulated to guide the study. The population of the study was made up of two thousand and ninety-three (2,293) teachers and thirty- eight thousand and thirty-tour (38,034) students in 72 public secondary schools in the Calabar Education Zone. The sample consisted of four hundred and fifty-nine (459) teachers and one thousand, eight hundred and thirty-six (1,836)students selected from Jss 2 class. Two sets of researcher- developed instruments were designed, validated and used for the collection of data. These were Quality Control Measures Questionnaire (QCMQ) meant to obtain responses from teachers and Teachers' job performance Questionnaire (TJPQ) meant to elicit responses from students. The data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Fisher's protected t-test where necessary. The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study showed that there was a significant influence of quality control measures in terms of teachers' welfare on teachers' job performance. It was concluded that teachers' job performance could be improve through quality control measures. If teachers are provided with a positive welfare package or condition, it will motivate them and boost their morale for high job performance. It was recommended among others, that effective positive welfare condition should be strengthened to guarantee the quality of public secondary school leavers
