This paper titled on Social Studies Education: A panacea for addressing, gender inequalities and women empowerment. Provides basic explanations of the concepts of Social Studies Education, Gender inequality and women empowerment. Gender inequalities and women empowerment are among the major issues in our societies that attract a lot of attention from scholars and non-scholars generally. The importance of sound education in the society in order to address human gender inequality and women empowerment cannot be overemphasized. The paper therefore, assessed Social studies education as a panacea for addressing gender inequality and women empowerment in Nigeria and arrived at a conclusion that much has not been done in that regard. Social studies education occupies a pride of place in all level of Nigerian educational system. Because of its prominence, it was made a core subject in the primary and upper basic secondary schools. It is as a result of this central position of social studies education that qualifies its effective teaching and addressing women empowerment. Some of the ways in which Social studies education can address gender inequality and women empowerment as mentioned above where outline and explained. Finally, the paper ended with conclusion and made some recommendations for social studies education as a panacea for addressing gender inequalities and women empowerment in Nigeria.
