Enhancing Quality Primary Education Through Teachers’ Participation in Curriculum Planning in Nigeria: Akamkpa Local Government Area

Abstract

The main thrust of this study was to the influence of teachers’ participation in curriculum planning and quality primary education in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State-Nigeria. To achieve the purpose of this study two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Literature review was carried out accordingly. Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study. A sample of 82 respondents’ was used for the study. The sample was selected through simple random sampling techniques. The questionnaire was the main instrument used for data collection. The reliability estimate of the instruments was established through Cronbach Alpha reliability method. Pearson Product moment Correlation analysis was the statistical technique employed to test the hypotheses under study. Each hypothesis was tested at .05 level of significance. The result of the analysis revealed that, Teachers participation in selection of content and teachers participation in evaluation does not significantly enhance quality primary education in Akamkpa Local Government Area. Based on the findings of the study it was recommendations were made.
