Abstract

Of recent, security challenges or insecurity in the country have affected the availability of conducive and quite environment for teaching and learning to take place; students live in fear of choosing to study in states others than their state of origin like in Cross River States institutions they had been reduction of the number of non-indigenes. Even though security has been a major challenge to most school in all parts of Nigeria, Cross River State Schools is the worst hit due to factor like poverty cause by communal clashes. Since the economy of the state is based on farming, it becomes almost impossible for the state to utilize its full potentials of development as an agrarian economy base on insecurity. This paper dealt with security challenges experience in the country that are likely to snowball into tertiary institutions with reference to Cross River State. This volume looked at security problems in Cross River State, campus violence, and the actualization of the culture of peace. It was observed that characters portrayed by students today are that of violence, lacking cooperation, which are common to communities in the State, hence this paper dealth with ways government can contail this vices by not allowing security problem faced in the society to affect  student in their relationship with each other in schools
