Abstract

This study aimed at determining the influence of quality control measures on administrative effectiveness in public secondary schools in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State. Three hypotheses were  formulated and tested in the study. The survey research design was adopted for the study. The study population comprised all the principals in the 87 public secondary schools in the zone. The 87 principals in the zone were used as sample for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled “Quality Control Measures and Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire  (QCMAEQ). Data collected were analyzed using Contingency Chi-square statistics at .05 level of significance. The result of the study revealed that staff development and resource accountability have significant influence on administrative effectiveness in public secondary schools in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State. Based on this result, it was recommended that adequate staff development programmes should be designed for all staff in the system and that government should ensure that there is proper accountability in secondary schools to enhance administrative effectiveness so as to attain quality education in the zone in particular and Cross River State in general.
