Abstract

There is no gainsaying the fact that when teachers talk about the most difficult problems they experience in teaching; mention is often made of classroom management. Although a rich knowledge base on classroom management has been developed over the two decades as well as a spate of management training programmes, teachers continue to feel insecure about managing their classroom, particularly, in other to bring about the much desired students’ academic achievement. In this paper, effort was geared towards looking at the different strategies for effective social studies classroom management and instructional delivery ranging from advanced planning, co- operative learning and the teacher as a facilitator. Some recommendations were put forward to further guide the teachers.
