Abstract

Teaching practice is very important to Social Studies student-teachers, because it is meant to build a solid foundation for every student teacher and to enrich their knowledge and understanding of the principles and pedagogies of Social Studies education. Teaching is one of the major components in educational system which is the main factor in conducting all plans in education. Despite the relevance of teaching practice, the outcome are far from ideal. The work is limited to the teaching practice, Social Studies education, strategies of teaching practice in Social Studies classroom, preparation and organization of effective teaching practice in Social Studies, orientation of student-teachers towards learning useful teaching skills in Social Studies, ways of teaching Social Studies education effectively during teaching practice, relevance of teaching practice, it was recommended that mentor teachers should assist the student teachers in preparation of lesson notes, scheme of work, and other useful materials and student teachers must ensure that instructions be centered on the pupils.
