Social Studies like any other school subject is taught in the classroom and with a variety of instructional materials and resources to aid teaching and learning. There must be proper interaction between the teacher and the leaner using the available relevant resources to enhance effective teaching and learning. A community where a school exists serves as a laboratory for proper teaching and learning of Social Studies if the resources are properly explored and utilized for the purpose of meeting the instructional objectives. It is at this instance that this paper seeks to identify and examine the relevant community resources that when widely and properly used can enhance effective teaching and learning of Social Studies in any Social Studies classroom interaction. The paper also looks at some of the way forward for proper use of community resources in the effective teaching and learning of Social Studies which include frequent visits of learners to community resource sites with the support of the government, parents and well-meaning citizens.
