Political assassination and youths participation in Politics in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria

This paper examined the relationship between political assassination and youth participation in politics in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. One statement of hypothesis was formulated to guide the study. Literature review was carried out based on the variable under study. Survey research design was considered most suitable for the study. Purposive sampling technique was adopted in selecting the 120 respondents (youths) sampled for the study. A validated 20 item four point modified Likert scale questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The reliability estimate of the instrument was 0.88 using Cronbach Alpha reliability method. To test the hypothesis formulated for the study Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used. The hypothesis was tested at .05 level of significance. The findings revealed that, there was no significant relationship between political assassination and youth participation in politics in Etung Local Government Area. It was recommended that Government and nongovernmental organizations should note that the era of blood shedding is still on-going and may pose a serious threat to the upcoming polls in 2023 and so should find sustainable measures to avert this problem.
