Abstract

The primary goal of the study was to investigate how convicts in Cross River State perceived correctional facilities based on demographic differences. The research was directed by three research questions. The ex-post facto research design was chosen for this investigation. Working with 729 prisoners who are nearing the end of their incarceration in the center, the census sampling technique was employed. "Personal variables, social adjustment and perception of inmates Scale (PVSAPIS)" is the name of the questionnaire. Reliability and validity were suitably established. The findings demonstrated that age and gender disparities did not significantly influence the perception that prisoners had of correctional facilities. On the other hand, educational background was a key factor. On the basis of this, suitable suggestions and the consequences for policy were examined.
