Abstract

This comprehensive study delves into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing the challenges of education in Nigeria, with a specific focus on remote and underserved areas. The paper begins by examining the background of personalized learning, emphasizing its significance in providing tailored educational experiences. It subsequently delves into the current state of education in Nigeria, shedding light on the disparities and infrastructure deficits that hinder effective learning in remote regions. Additionally, the study explores the existing efforts to improve remote learning in Nigeria, particularly in response to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The core objective of this research is to investigate how AI can play a pivotal role in enhancing personalized learning for Nigerian students in remote settings. Through an in-depth analysis of AI-driven tools and technologies, ethical considerations, access challenges, and educator capacity-building, this study aims to provide a holistic understanding of the potential of AI in Nigerian education. This study further presents case studies and success stories of AI-powered personalized learning initiatives in Nigeria, showcasing real-world examples of how technology is already making a positive impact on education in remote areas. Drawing from these examples, the research formulates comprehensive recommendations and policy guidelines for the integration of AI into Nigerian education. These recommendations encompass equitable access, ethical considerations, and strategies for preparing educators to effectively utilize AI tools.
