Permissive Parenting Style and Juvenile Delinquency Among Public Secondary school students in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State

The research was carried out on permissive parenting style and juvenile delinquency in Calabar South Local government area of Cross River State. One null hypothesis was formulated and tested. The survey research design was used for the study. A simple random sampling technique was adopted for the study. The population comprised 1142 public secondary school students. A sample of 198 was selected through simple random sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection of the study was a questionnaire. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The result of the study shows that there is a significant relationship between permissive parenting style and juvenile delinquency. It was therefore recommended that children’s needs should be provided for in order to reduce the rate of delinquency.
