Attainment of the Millennium Development Goals in the provision of improved sanitation in Cross River State, Nigeria

The study evaluated the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals level in the provision of access to improved sanitation in Cross River State, Nigeria. One main question was postulated to guide the study. Survey research design was employed for the study. A sample of nine hundred and forty five (945) subjects was randomly drawn twenty eight (28) from political wards in the study area and used for the study. A 43-item questionnaire titled: Attainment of Improved Sanitation Rating Scale Questionnaire (AISRSQ) was used for data collection. The instrument was validated and the reliability estimates ranged from 0.81 to 0.97, Cronbach Alpha coefficient method was employed/or the analysis of data. Provision of access to improved sanitation was significantly inadequate. Recommendations were made based on this finding that government and other development agencies should embark on sanitation agencies across the state to provide affordable sanitation schemes in the state as it has done in Calabar Metropolis.
