Abstract

A disciplined behaviour is very essential for the survival of any society; discipline plays a prominent role in the peaceful co-existence of members of a society. In the traditional Nigerian society, there are number of games that help to inculcate discipline in children. This game could be introduced to primary school pupils to help them develop a disciplined behaviour which could translate into love for peace as the child grows into an adult. This paper examined the nature of discipline, some traditional games and their interplay in bringing about peaceful coexistence, the paper also makes some recommendations about how these games could be introduced into the primary schools with the sole purpose of inculcating discipline and the culture of peace in children.
