Abstract

This study is on awareness and utilization of Forest Resource Management strategies towards mitigation of climate change among farmers in Ogoja Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. Two research questions and hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The purposive sampling techniques was adopted to select a total of two hundred and forty (240) adult inhabitants (males and female) of all socio economic status in Ogoja LGA of Cross River State, Nigeria. Forest Resource Management Questionnaire” (FRMQ) was used for data collection. The data were analysed with simple linear regression. The results revealed a significant influence of agroforestry on conservation of forest resources in Ogoja local government area of Cross River State, but there was no significant influence of Mixed cropping on conservation of forest resources in Ogoja local government area of Cross River State Nigeria. Based on the findings and conclusion, it was recommended among other that the government and relevant stakeholders should explore alternative sustainable land use practices beyond agroforestry to conserve forest resources in Ogoja local government area of Cross River State.
