Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Gender, Age and Corrupt Behaviour Tendencies among Tertiary Institutions Nonacademic Staff in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State. Two research questions were formulated and two null hypotheses, tested at 0.5 level of significance. Literature was reviewed based on the variables under study, an Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study, purposeful sampling technique was adopted to select five (5) tertiary institutions while accidental sampling technique was used to select 500 respondents, the population of the study comprises of all nonacademic staff of tertiary institutions in Calabar Education Zone. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Gender, Age and Corrupt Behaviour Tendencies among nonacademic Staff Questionnaire (GACBTNSQ), containing twenty-five (25) items. T test and one way analysis of variance were used for test of hypotheses, based on the finding, recommendations were made that The Government and tertiary institutions should employ gender and age as some of the requirements for some key positions among the nonacademic staff. Tertiary institutions should enforce strong anti-corruption policies in order to fight corruption. Institutions should introduce effective reward system in every department to keep all staff active and efficient.
