Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between modern curriculum implementation trends and university students’ learning effectiveness in Cross River State, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted. The population for this study consisted of three thousand, two hundred and fifty-seven (3,257) students in the faculty of education, university of Calabar. The simple random sampling technique was used for the selection of three hundred and twenty-five (325) students used for the study. Modern Curriculum Implementation Trends and Students’ Learning Effectiveness Questionnaire (MCITSLEQ) was used for data collection. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis was the statistical technique employed to test the hypotheses under study at .05 level of significance. The result revealed that blended learning and flipped classroom has a significant positive relationship with university students’ learning effectiveness. Based on the findings, it was recommended that; curriculum developers should incorporate modern technologies and the modalities for implementation, educators should upgrade their skills for effective implementation of knowledge-based curriculum of the 21st century and educators should encourage students to engage in online interaction on educational courses to enhance learning effectiveness.
