Abstract

Climate change education represents a pivotal force in shaping the collective response to one of humanity’s most pressing challenges. This study explores how climate change education can help in providing the requisite competencies as a panacea in fostering environmental sustainability, promoting sustainable behavior and catalyzing informed action The study examines the multidimensional nature of climate change education, encompassing formal education systems informal learning platform and community engagement initiatives. By integrating scientific knowledge, socio-cultural perspective and ethical consideration, climate change education equips individual with the critical thinking and empathy necessary to navigate the complexities of environmental issues. Climate change education empowers individual with the knowledge and skill to take necessary action required against climate change, foster a culture of sustainable and environmental stewardship within our community. It is recommended among others that climate change education should be taught in schools laws should be enforced that guides how individuals relate with the environment, deforestation should be done based on the needs of the society not for massive commercial use that obtains, seminars workshops should be organized in town halls to create awareness on the causes of climate change and how to mitigate it.
