Abstract

This paper explores the implementation of Citizenship Education as a strategic avenue to enhance nation-building efforts. Citizenship Education plays a critical role in fostering national identity, civic responsibility, and active participation among citizens, which are essential to achieving broader nation-building objectives. The study examines the core components of Citizenship Education such as civic knowledge, values, and skills that are fundamental in shaping responsible and informed citizens. Emphasizing the need for a curriculum that integrates ethical, political, and social dimensions, the paper addresses how these components can be effectively incorporated to promote unity, reduce socio-political tensions, and cultivate a sense of shared responsibility among diverse populations. Through an analysis of current practices, challenges, and success factors, this study highlights the significance of government support, inclusive policies, and teacher training as foundational pillars for successful Citizenship Education. It concludes with recommendations aimed at optimizing the delivery and impact of Citizenship Education to ensure its alignment with national development goals, ultimately contributing to sustainable progress and the realization of collective aspirations for a resilient, peaceful, and progressive society.
