EVOLUTION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) AND INTERNET AS A CONTEMPORARY BASE FOR EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION SERVICES

Abstract

The facts that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet are transforming every segment of human life particularly education sector, is no longer a story. AI and Internet simplify tasks and streamline traditional education methods for efficient results. The changes and developments in education and information services via these new technologies equip many educationists and learners with basic tools to utilize their potentials, which enable their participation in advance technology base education process and programmes. Yet, the quality of every programme in education depends largely upon the quality of information available, whereas effective information leads to congenial human relations which in turns enhance the quality of the service delivery. This paper discuses AI and the Internet as the bases for information services, with specification to the meaning of AI and Internet, evolution of AI and Internet, Internet as a depository of educational information, gathering information from the internet using AI for presentation, the pros and cons of AI and Internet, prospects of AI and the Internet as a source of education and information services among others. The paper offers suggestions on the effective use of AI and Internet in education and information services for scholastic development and the benefits of humankind.
