Abstract

This paper examined effective utilization of emerging technology tools for teaching of Social Studies content in tertiary institutions for global competencies. The subject content in tertiary institutions for knowledge impactful towards solving societal problems includes; values education, peace education, character education and human rights education amongst others. Faulty curriculum, ideology of naturality and methods of content delivery were identified as major challenges facing Social Studies content in tertiary institution. Some big the identified emerging technology tools for teaching Social Studies were artificial intelligence, Blockchain, virtual reality and internet connectivity. The paper concluded that teachers should be trained in order to be computer literates and students to compete favourably among the comity of nations
