Abstract

This study surveyed efficacy of evidence based ability in disability driven inspiration and attitudinal status among Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in South-South Universities in Nigeria. Two purposes were generated from where two Research Questions were formulated. Descriptive survey design was used for the study. Multistage sampling technique was used to arrive at the sample for the study. The sample was made up of fifty (50) students identified with disabilities. An instrument named “Inspiration/Attitudinal Status Inventory for Persons with Disabilities″ (IASIFPWD) was constructed by the Researchers. The instrument was face validated by three experts whose inputs gave the instrument status of validity upon effecting suggested corrections. Cronbach Alpha was used to come by the Reliability which has the coefficient of 0.85. The statistical tool used for analysis of data were frequencies and mean score. The decision rule was based on any attitude with benchmark of 2.5. The mean scores were deducted from frequencies. It was concluded that efficacy of evidence based ability in disability driven inspiration and attitudinal status among Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in South-South Universities in Nigeria is pertinent and sacrosanct as it addresses the challenges of inspiration and attitudes of this special population. The findings of the study showed among others that there is significant improvement both in inspiration and attitudes of PWDs. It is therefore recommended among others that special educators and guidance counselors should expose persons with disabilities to success stories of persons with disabilities that are evidence based.
